Alumnae at the recent Exe-X: Women and Leadership Reception

Alumnae Look to Build their Brands

Alumnae recently shared knowledge and expertise of ‘how to build your brand’ at the annual Exe-X: Women and Leadership Reception, organised by the Alumnae Group.

This year’s reception saw a panel of experts each give their own views on the idea of ‘brand’ and how your personal brand can be developed. The reception was held at the beautiful University Women’s Club in Mayfair.

The evening began with a warm welcome and update from the University’s Provost, Professor Janice Kay. Lead speaker Helen Brand, CEO of ACCA, then discussed how she has built her own profile to rise to the top of her profession and the challenges she faces there. She was followed by Joanna Murchie, Personal Branding Specialist, who was able to share invaluable advice about how to build the perfect CV. Claire Derbyshire, Relationship Manager at LinkedIn, then shared how LinkedIn can be used to build your brand before Teresa Orange, Director at Teresa Orange Research, discussed her experience of branding and how she has used this knowledge as a careers coach to help people evaluate their personal brands.

The engaging talks were followed by an opportunity for alumnae to network and catch up with fellow Exeter graduates as well as ask further questions of the speakers.
