Reading to elderly with Annual Fund support

Students from the English department are reading in residential care homes as part of a project that uses literature and poetry as a stimulus for senior citizens, including those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
 
 

Empower: Access to Medicine campaign

A campaign to remove barriers to access for new drugs and treatments for people with rare or life-threatening conditions has been launched by alumnus Dr Les Halpin.

Inaugural London Alumni Carol Service

The first annual carol service for Exeter alumni is planned for 6 December in London. The service will be held at the historic St Mary Woolnoth in Bank. Alumni needed to join the choir - please register with choirmaster Richard Brain (R.Brain@ram.ac.uk).
 
 

Athlete motivates high-achieving pupils

International beach volleyball player Lucy Boulton (Sports Sciences 2010) inspired Exeter’s youngsters at the Excellence in Exeter awards. Lucy has spent the past six years playing at an international level and is one of the UK’s brightest young sports stars.
 
 

Library space honours alumni legacy

A room in the newly refurbished library on the Streatham Campus has been named in tribute to an Exeter alumnus and philanthropist. Professor Lang bequeathed £90,000 to support investment in the University library.

Methane waste could power British homes

The UK could gain an edge in the race to become the most efficient converters of waste into energy thanks to experts at the University of Exeter. £4 million has been awarded for groundbreaking research into creating biomethane, which can be burned to produce energy.

Exeter City welcomes Brazilian students

The first football team to have played against Brazil marked its historic ties by welcoming Brazilian students, including several scholars supported by Santander Universities, to a match.
 

Alumni celebrate boathouse opening

Hundreds of alumni gathered for the opening of the University of Exeter’s new boathouse. The new, purpose-built facility is located on the banks of the Exeter Canal at Countess Wear.

The 2012 Sports Report is now available, looking back at the successful 2011/12 season. It includes details of our Olympic and Paralympic success and the highest-ever BUCS ranking for Exeter.
