Alumni support arts and culture internships

Exeter alumni have supported a new training and internship programme for students seeking graduate careers in the arts, culture and heritage sectors.

The University teamed up with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & art gallery (RAMM) to deliver a training and internship programme to fuel the interest and expertise of a select groups of students.

The 18 talented students were selected from a rigorous application process and assessment centre. They then received tailored training in the sector, from experts provided by the RAMM and its associates and the week long training concluded with group presentations addressing real life problems and potential new schemes that could be implemented. Feedback to the students' presentations was extremely positive, with compliments one their presentations skills, attention to detail and original ideas.

The students were then placed in SME’s across Exeter and the surrounding area, including several run by Exeter alumni, to implement their new skills and expertise. This essential work experience for the students has developed their confidence in securing a graduate job in this sector. A first year student has described the experience as “thought- provoking and encouraging.” Not only this but local businesses have gained significant support in upcoming projects from students.

If you wish to help support this programme in the future, please contact Jo McCreedie, Employer Liaison Officer on J.McCreedie@exeter.ac.uk or call 01392 722617.
