International energy and petrochemical company Shell aims to fully decarbonise by 2050, and published an Energy Transition Strategy in 2021: https://www.shell.com/energy-and-innovation/the-energy-future/shell-energy-transition-strategy.html.

Since 2005, the University of Exeter’s research with Shell has centred on helping them to do this by accelerating the development of biofuels as a feasible alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This collaborative research is now diversifying and includes supporting the responsible use of nature-based solutions and the deployment of renewable energy. In recent years the Shell research collaboration has succeeded in dramatically reducing the timeframes for development of new technologies, models and processes, in some cases from several years to 18 months, helping accelerate the transition to net zero.
