“I love the fact that my course is more than just about reading lots of books, it’s very practical. For example, in my first year, we had a mock tribunal in one of our seminars. The University invited someone from London to act as a head judge, and we all dressed up as lawyers and got to present our clients as if we were in court. There have also been similar things organised by the Law Society as well. As well as this, we’ve had the opportunity to go to court and watch trials and sentencing which has been really interesting. There is of course reading to do but the practical aspect is what makes this course interesting for me.
We get massive support from our tutors; if you don’t understand anything or are struggling you can always reach out to them and they will take the time to explain something."

"My favourite place to study is the law library. The expansive floor-to-ceiling windows not only provide ample natural light but also create a serene ambiance conducive to focused studying.
One of the coolest things about studying at the University of Exeter is all the different clubs you can join—there are over 300 of them! On weekends, my friends and I love going hiking with the Out of Doors society. Additionally, throughout the week, I actively engage with the seminars and lectures hosted by the law society. Joining these clubs isn't just about having fun or learning—it's also an awesome way to meet new people and make friends."

"All my lecturers are really nice; they are easy to approach and you can ask them questions. The Law building and the Law community are just really inclusive at Exeter, there is a society for everyone and there are always opportunities to expand our knowledge and ask questions. Our personal tutors play a big role – we would talk through results or challenges and then spend time discussing them. They follow up with you to make sure it gets sorted and that you’re feeling better about it.
We had morning breakfasts in Exeter Law firms where we found out about being a solicitor, how to get a job, and getting an insight into what careers are available. I also had the chance to have dinner with Baker McKenzie in Exeter, along with a few other students. There were lots of trainees there so we could ask them questions, along with someone from Human Resources. It was really helpful and insightful."

We're committed to providing outstanding education to students from a wide range of backgrounds. We offer a Pathways to Law programme for sixth form students thinking about an undergraduate degree in Law. No previous study of Law is required to apply for our postgraduate courses - we accept students with a Bachelors degree or equivalent in any subject, making our courses ideal for anyone looking to progress their career or make a career change. The University offers a variety of financial support, including £7 million in scholarships for international students joining us in 2026/27.
