Modern medical science is increasingly driven by interdisciplinary teams making discoveries through the analysis of large and complex datasets. At the University of Exeter, we are leading this transformation through world-class research and access to some of the world’s largest biobanks, genomic datasets and health service resources.
You’ll be taught by leading academics in genomics, epidemiology and health services research, drawing on expertise across mathematics, computer science and biomedical science.
You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake real-world research projects with partners such as the NHS, pharmaceutical organisations and health data companies. The course emphasises highly employable, transferable skills, including proficiency in Python, one of the most widely used programming languages in health data science.
We’ve got more than £7 million in scholarships available for undergraduate and postgraduate students applying to study with us in the 2026/27 academic year, including our esteemed Exeter Excellence Scholarship, as well as regional automatic scholarships and partner scholarships with organisations such as The British Council, Chevening and The Beacon Trust.
