KeepCups save waste

We are delighted to announce that 10,000 fewer disposable cups have been used on campus since the introduction of the KeepCup scheme. Good work everyone. Have you got yours yet?

Sustainable KeepCups come to campus

Did you know that every minute around the world, one million disposable cups are discarded to landfill? A student led sustainability initiative has resulted in University and Guild outlets introducing reusable KeepCups. These University branded eco-friendly cups can be purchased on campus for cost price at just £5, or £7 for the glass version, and when purchased from University Eat & Shop outlets you’ll receive your first hot drink for free.

The University Eat & Shop and Student Guild outlets have all reduced hot drink prices by 25p, so when you use your KeepCup (or other reusable mug) in one of the University or Guild outlets on campus, you will pay the new lower price displayed in outlets. If you use a disposable cup, it will cost an extra 25p on top. Think of it like the carrier bag fee. There’s enough plastic in 20 disposable cups and lids to make one KeepCup, and after 15 uses you’ll save energy and resources, as well as waste. Will you #GiveUpYourPaperCup ?

KeepCups are available to purchase in the following University Eat & Shop outlets:

  • La Touche
  • Terrace
  • Roundhouse
  • Engine Room
  • Market Place Forum
  • X-Keys

If you do not claim your free hot drink at the time of purchase, you can request a voucher entitling you to claim your free drink from one of the above outlets at a later date.

The following Student Guild outlets are participating in the disposable cup fee and offering reduced hot drink prices for KeepCup (and other reusable mug) users.

  • The Ram
  • Comida
  • Grove Diner
  • Pieminister
