Applying for a parking permit

The types of permits available, and the eligibility criteria for each is detailed below.  Associate Staff  and Non University Staff are advised to use  the 'Other' tab and complete the appropriate form.

There is a £10 charge if you lose your parking permit.

If you are a University of Exeter staff member with an existing parking permit and would like to pay for your permit by monthly deductions when it expires, please complete the online application form to apply.

If you are unable to supply your employee/payroll number, we will not be able to issue a permit until it can be verified. Your number is shown as your ‘Employee No.’ on your University Card.

Permits will be sent via the internal mail system within seven working days of your application.

If your are a new applicant and a University of Exeter staff member and would like to pay for your permit by monthly deductions you need to live or reside outside the EX1, EX2 and EX4 postcodes whilst attending the University,otherwise you will not be eligible to apply or a parking permit. Exceptions to this rule are:

  • Staff with caring responsibilities – staff with children under 11; staff with responsibility for the care and upbringing of a child aged over 11 who has a disability; staff with dependent relatives.  
  • Staff with poor access to public transport – staff who must use more than two different public transport services to make the journey to work or where public transport does not exist.
  • Staff who work shifts or unsocial hours – staff who start work before 06:30 or finish after 22:30.

To apply for a permit please complete the online application form and include the scanned documents below: 

  • Proof of address eg, utility bill, tenancy agreement, bank statement etc.(within the last 3 months).  Please note that driving Licences are not acceptable.
  • Copy of a birth certificate for carers of children aged 11 and under: You must have responsibility for the upbringing of children and be either the mother, father, adopter, guardian or foster parent of the child or married to or the civil partner/partner of the child’s mother, father, adopter, guardian or foster parent.

Adult Carer: You must be caring for a person aged 18 years or over who you are married to, or are the civil partner/partner of; or is a relative; or is living at the same address.

“Relative” is defined as mother, father, adopter, guardian, special guardian, parent-in-law, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, uncle, aunt or grandparent and step-parent, step-son, step-daughter, step-brother and step-sister. Half-blood relatives are also included, as are adoptive relationships and relationships which would have existed but for an adoption, ie, an employee’s natural relatives.

To apply for a new or renewal car share permit, you must complete the following steps:

1. Register your journey on the University of Exeter’s Car Share Scheme website.
2. Find a journey match and make contact with fellow sharers.
3. Create a Liftshare team with fellow sharers.
4. Apply for a car share permit through the link below, quoting your Liftshare Team ID.
5. All members of the Liftshare Team must be eligible to be University permit holders.

Copies of both sides of your blue badge must be supplied to the Car Parking Office with your application form.

If you are a University of Exeter staff member with an existing parking permit and would like to renew your permit when it expires, please complete the online application form to apply.

If you are unable to supply your employee/payroll number, we will not be able to issue a permit until it can be verified. Your number is shown as your ‘Employee No.’ on your University Card.

The authority to park is only valid when displayed with a reduced staff pay and display ticket (currently £2 per day).

Additional staff authority to park permits can be obtained where staff will be using different vehicles to travel on site but only one vehicle may be used at any one given time.

If you are an associate or not a member of the University of Exeter staff and work with one of our partner organisations, please complete the external application form.

Payment will be taken over telephone - the parking team will be in touch when your application is being processed.  Payment is also accepted via invoice - please speak with a memebr of the team for more information.

Students (UG and PGT) can apply for a permit if they meet the same eligibility criteria as staff.

To apply please complete the Student permit application form and submit to the parking e-mail.  Please include a scanned copy of proof of address such as utility bill or tenancy agreement (not bank statements or anything containing financial details).  When your application is processed you will be contacted to make payment over the telephone.
