Advertising casual, part-time and vacation work

If you are looking for staff to provide part-time work, cover casual shifts or carry out temporary casual jobs then our students can help whilst they study or during vacation periods.

We provide a fast, friendly and efficient service supporting you with planned and short-notice vacancies. We also offer excellent value for money to attend our casual jobs and internships fairs at a fraction of the cost.

Important: Online submission is strongly recommended as this is the fastest route to getting your vacancies live on our system.

  • Two casual jobs and internships fair run in October and February every year to promote your job and opportunities.

Vacancies will be visible to all current students (undergraduate and post-graduate) and to University of Exeter alumni.

To advertise, you will need to register on our systems. After registering you'll be able to upload your vacancies which will be reviewed by a member of staff before going live.

We use Handshake to promote vacancy adverts. You can connect to the University of Exeter via Handshake here.

Several Universities are now using Handshake including Cambridge, Liverpool, York, Sheffield Hallam and UWE, making it easy for employers to distribute their advert to Handshake partners with one upload.

The philosophy of the Student Employee Of The Year is to recognise student employees who combine study with part-time or temporary work and celebrate their determination in our Student Employee of the Year Awards

Nominations for our 2022 Awards will open October 2021

All Employers who nominate a student will join our employer Wall of Fame, receive a free dedicated email for any future jobs and are invited to our Awards ceremony in May 2022.

How do I nominate?

Please nominate your 2022 Student Employee of the Year in our form, which will be going live in October 2022

What time period should the part-time job cover?

There is no required time period, but the student must have worked hours or longer between April 2021 and April 2022.

What happens if the student has now finished working for the employer?

As long as they worked whilst studying between April 2021 and April 2022 then they can still be nominated

Is there a duration you expect the student to have worked?

Any duration is allowed from one off weekend work to regular summer work; as long as the student worked in a paid role,

What categories are there?

You can choose to nominate your student in one of the four categories listed below:

 

·         Business Impact - student has improved commerce or commercial viability or business processes

·         Leadership - student has demonstrated leadership qualities

·         Community - student has improved community engagement or similar

·         Innovation - student has successfully brought a new idea to the working environment

The email which was sent to students prior to the jobs fair was a great idea as it increased awareness of the role we were offering as well as promoting the fair.
