The Career Zone team have one goal: to help prepare you for life and work after university, offering quality assistance and advice throughout your course. You can also have access to the Career Zone after you graduate. There is no time limit on this access.

Whether you’re stuck on deciding, planning to get more experience, or in the midst of competing for a job, our information team and careers consultants will always be on hand to support you! Our information is categorised by the phases 'Deicde','Plan, and 'Compete' to help you to get the right information at the right time to suit your career planning. Why should you visit?

When you pop into Career Zone, our information staff will help with a wide range of enquiries, such as:

  • CV or application form reviews.
  • Booking 1:1 appointments with Career Consultants.
  • Advice on finding work experience, graduate jobs or postgraduate study. 
  • Guidance for interviews and assessment centres. 
  • Finding programmes of career workshops and events.   

And there’s no limit to how often you can visit, so we can take our time to figure out your ambitions together.

The Exeter Award is an achievement award for students, to develop a range of skills, enhance your employability and boost your CV.

It includes things like skill sessions, sporting/musical activities, work experience and mock interviews. The award is officially recognised by employers, and can give you the edge in applying for jobs.

Login to your profile in My Career Zone to register or track your progress.

Yes we can! Take a look at our part-time jobs section, with information on how to apply for jobs. If you're searching for current vacancies, login to My Career Zone and use the search field. There's also information for international students.

If you’re applying for a job then we are happy to check over your CV, covering letter or application form before you send it off.

You can book an appointment through the Career Zone at Exeter or Cornwall, so visit us today!

CV appointments usually last 15 minutes, while application form appointments last 20 minutes, but you can return as many times as you like!

Visit the events page on My Career Zone, and use the search bar and filters to find an event you're interested in.

Once you click on one, you'll be given the chance to 'Book In' with the confirmation details sent to your university email address.

You can cancel events online by visiting the event page in My Career Zone and clicking 'Cancel Booking' up to 24 hours in advance. If it's within 24 hours of the event you can contact us to cancel.

If you will not be able to attend a careers appointment, let us know and we can cancel your booking.

Please cancel bookings as soon as you know you will be unable to attend to allow other students to take up these opportunities.  

If you miss an appointment or event, please inform us as to why you were absent as soon as you can.

You can search for internships and placements on My Career Zone, filtering the results to find a good match!

Once you find one you fancy, click on it and read the descirption carefully - it will list out all the information you'll need to make an informed application.

Under 'How to Apply', it will guide you through the application process. 

Mock interviews are listed under events and you can find information about how to book them in the event details. Search for Event Type of Employer Mock Interview.

You will usually need to upload a CV before you can book a mock interview.
