Mary Harris Memorial Chapel of the Holy Trinity

Regular Service Times: Michaelmas Term 2019

A quick guide to services

  • The services listed here are only held during term time.
  • You don't need to be a person of faith or a member of the University to attend; everyone is very welcome – students, staff and members of the public.
  • Services are in the Anglican (also known as Church of England) tradition.
  • Please see the Term Card for full details of all services and events.

Sunday Services

There is a choral service every week at 7.00pm during term time.

During the Michaelmas term there will be two exceptions to this:

  • on Sunday 3rd of November the choir will be on tour in Bath so there will be a said service of Holy Communion at 7.00pm
  • on Sunday 10th November, there will be a Remembrance Sunday service (without Eucharist) at 7.00pm, when the choir will sing Faure's Requiem

Otherwise, the service alternates each week between Choral Evensong (7.00pm - 7.45pm) and a Choral Eucharist (7.00pm - 8.00pm).

Midweek Services

Holy Communion (said, not choral) 12.45pm - 1.10pm

Choral Evensong 5.00pm - 5.45pm

Choral Compline 9.15pm - 9.30pm

  • Holy Communion and Choral Evensong are both followed by tea and coffee, served in the Old Library just opposite the chapel for all who can stay for a while after the service
  • There will be no Wednesday Choral Evensong services in December.

Tuesday and Wednesday during term time
Morning Prayer 8.30am - 8.50am

If you would like a prayer but are unable to attend, you can request one to be said for you or a loved one by contacting the Chaplain, or by pinning a note to the prayer board at the back of the Chapel.

We also have a book at the back of the Chapel where you can write comments or prayers, and a votive candle stand.
