Reverend Simon Taylor

Baptist Chaplain

Simon is a dad, cyclist, breadmaker and (hopeful) guitarist. He describes himself as an imperfect follower of Jesus, facing the challenges of the world with the assurance of God's unconditional love. He is passionate about helping people explore what following Jesus means in a modern context and in coping with the pressures of everyday life.

As the Baptist Chaplain for the University he really enjoys being here to support staff and students. He is an accredited minister with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and is one of the ministers at South Street Baptist Church in Exeter city centre.

Simon has experienced a wide range of university life, having been an undergraduate and postgraduate student, as well as spending a brief period teaching at Plymouth University on countryside recreation (before he became a minister he worked in environmental education), and more recently as a chaplain.

Simon is happy to pray with you, or simply to listen – whether you have a faith or just need a friendly ear. (He's also more than happy simply to discuss cycle routes in the city or to share breadmaking tips.)
