Arca: a fantastic opportunity to support Cornish businesses to develop 'circular' skills

‘Arca’ sets sail to help Cornish businesses transition to circular economy

A new research project will work with Cornish businesses to help them develop the skills they need to transition to a circular economy.

Arca – Italian for ark – will work with local businesses to co-design workshops and training programmes for individuals, microbusinesses and SMEs in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

It is part-funded with £1.1 million from the European Social Fund and forms part of the European Strategic Investment Framework for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

“Arca is a fantastic opportunity to support Cornish businesses to develop the skills they need to transition to a circular economy,” explained project leader Professor Stefano Pascucci, Head of Sustainable Futures at the University of Exeter Business School and Professor in Sustainability and Circular Economy.

“It is clear that if we continue with our current linear economy, we will not be able to remain within planetary boundaries. The transition to a circular economy is not a matter of choice. It is a necessity.”

Arca will offer a range of training programmes and workshops covering topics such as:

-          Principles of the circular economy

-          Circular design

-          Circular business models

-          Change management

-          Emotional intelligence

Delivery of workshops begins in March 2022 with the project due to end in December 2023.
