Announcement from Government - 10 May 2021

Dear students

We welcome today’s announcement from Government that students in higher education can return to face to face teaching from 17 May.  Most of our students are currently engaged in online exams/assessments but for those of you with timetabled activities on our campuses, this week you will begin to see physical locations revealed in your timetable for activities that will take place from 17 May.

This announcement also means that our Festival of Discovery can go ahead as planned between 24 May and 4 June. Taking place across our campuses, the Festival will offer a wide range of educational events with opportunities for you to discover more about what your University and its community has to offer, and chances for you to meet up with your friends. Please do keep an eye on our website and other channels for more information about the range of activities that will be on offer.  We will let you know on the website which events are available to join online so you can be involved even if you’re not able to come to campus.

We understand that some students, particularly those who are overseas and unable to travel to the UK, may need to continue their studies remotely for the time being.  If you haven’t already done so, please email to enquire about opportunities for remote study through the summer term.

Please remember that we must all continue to abide by the COVID-19 restrictions, follow the basic hygiene measures and engage with regular testing to keep each other and those around us safe.

If you are returning to our campuses, we expect you to get tested as soon as possible after you return and then regularly twice a week, every week. It’s even more vital now as we have all worked so hard to reduce transmission in our University community. We need to keep this up as more students return and activities are able to restart. Please visit our website to book your tests now.

From Monday 17 May there will be a further easing of restrictions, and I will say more about these in my regular update later this week.
