The CSES Module 4 Planning Committee is nearing the end of its work, and a new CSES Module 5 Planning Committee will take its place beginning next year. According to CSES guidelines, the CSES Planning Committee membership must turn over approximately 50% from one module to the next. A Nominating Committee has been established to consider the composition of the new Committee. The CSES Module 5 Nominating Committee consists of Christopher Anderson (Cornell University), Ulises Beltran (Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economica - CIDE), Michal Shamir (Tel Aviv University), and André Blais.

ACCESS EUROPE is an UvA-VUA Amsterdam Academic Alliance initiative. As a joint venture of the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Centre for Contemporary European Studies (ACCESS EUROPE) aims to establish a new institutional platform for research, education and public debate on the European Union and its member states.
Starting in January 2014, ACCESS EUROPE offers three Postdoctoral research positions for the duration of one year. The selected candidates will be working in one of the participating faculties of the UvA or the VUA.

The two postdoctoral researchers will work within the UvA Research Priority Area Communication. One position is in the field of communication effects and politics, in particular communication effects on public opinion and electoral behavior in European politics. 22.08.2013 Call for possible themes and questions for CSES Module 5
In order to begin the process of identifying a topic for CSES Module 5, a Task Force has been established, consisting of Sara Binzer Hobolt (London School of Economics and Political Science), Radoslaw Markowski (Polish Academy of Sciences) and Nicolas Sauger (Sciences Po). The mission of the CSES Module 5 Task Force is to identify gaps in the research that CSES Module 5 might address, and canvass possible substantive themes for the new module. The purpose of this note is to ask members of the CSES user community, to suggest possible themes and questions that the Task Force should investigate for CSES Module 5.

Talking Data South West was the region's first conference focusing on all aspects of data: from collection and analysis through to visualisation and communication. We had a fantastic response with over 100 delegates representing more than 50 organisations from around the region. It was the first event to bring together and showcase the different data activities in the South West and provided a unique opportunity to develop data skills and to network with other regional businesses. The conference included presentations from a number of keynote speakers from national organisations as well as presentation from local organisations and a poster session.

8 paper presentations were given by members of the ELECDEM project at the MPSA Conference which is one of the largest political science conferences in the discipline. In 2012, more than 5,200 presenters from 56 countries throughout the world presented more than 4,200 papers.

This event is organised by Comparative Cross-National Electoral Research [CCNER], a four year project funded by the British Economic & Social Research Council hosted by the Centre for Elections Media and Parties at the University of Exeter.
