Global Advancement

Global Advancement is responsible for building life-long relationships with the University’s alumni and supporters around the world.

Global Advancement is currently managing the University’s largest ever fundraising campaign, “Making the Exceptional Happen”, which aims to raise £60m and secure 60,000 hours of volunteer time by 2020.

Key deliverables for 2018/19

  • Secure £8m in new philanthropic funds
  • Secure 11,000 hours of volunteer time
  • Develop the donor pipeline to meet campaign targets

Service provided

  • Securing new philanthropic funds in support of campaign themes
  • Securing alumni volunteer time in support of key activities
  • Engaging alumni and other supporters
  • Managing the receipt and spend of philanthropic funds
  • Thanking and stewarding donors and volunteers
  • Claiming Gift Aid on appropriate gifts and advising of other methods for making tax effective gifts
  • Supporting Colleges and Services to communicate with alumni in accordance with data protection law
  • Conducting due diligence checks on all potential major donors in accordance with the University’s Reputation Management Policy
  • Maintaining an accurate source of alumni and supporter data in accordance with data protection law
  • Working collaboratively with academic staff in Colleges and other Professional Services to create potential philanthropic fundraising opportunities and to respond to donor approaches.  Global Advancement acts as the conduit between Exeter’s supporter community worldwide and the University itself.
