ASPIRE Framework

What is the ASPIRE Framework?

If you teach, supervise, and/or support learning at the University of Exeter, the ASPIRE Framework offers you the opportunity to gain reward and recognition.

ASPIRE rewards applicants with both a University of Exeter ASPIRE Fellowship and the correlating AdvanceHE fellowship from one of four Fellowship Descriptors:

• Associate Fellowship (Descriptor 1)
• Fellowship (Descriptor 2)
• Senior Fellowship (Descriptor 3)
• Principal Fellowship (Descriptor 4)

Fellowships are awarded based on evidence of personal professional practice that meets the requirements of the Professional Standards Framework 2023 (PSF 2023), the standards framework for the higher education sector. 

Pathways to fellowship 

There are three pathways at the University of Exeter through which to achieve an ASPIRE/HEA fellowship:

• Professional Recognition Pathway (PRP)
• Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LTHE) (Descriptor 1)
• Academic Professional Programme (APP) (Descriptor 2, run by the School of Education)‌
