Contact Quality & Standards

Quality and Standards work with academic and professional services staff, students and external partners to support delivery of the policies held in the Teaching Quality Assurance (TQA) manual. Quality and Standards support core functions for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes and students, including: the approval and amendment of programmes and modules, external examining, student surveys, academic partnerships, the annual quality review of teaching, support for the student community and student partnership activity including Student Staff Liaison Committees (SSLCs) and Students as Change Agents (SACA) projects, and accreditation of programmes by external professional, statutory and regulatory bodies. In addition to the Management of Academic Representation Group (MARG) and the Degree Outcomes Steering Group, Quality and Standards support designated working parties for policy development.

These functions ensure that the University of Exeter meets the expectations, core and common practices of the Quality Assurance Agency revised UK Quality Code for Higher Education, the Office for Students B Conditions of Registration, the Competition and Markets Authority advice on consumer protection law, and supports the aims of the University of Exeter’s Education Strategy.

Student Community and Partnerships

We coordinate a variety of student-staff partnership activities designed to support students’ voice at the university and foster communities within departments. This includes providing full administrative support for Student-Staff Liaison Committees (SSLCs) and the flow of student feedback within Faculties, supporting student-led projects within the Students as Change Agents scheme, and coordinating the distribution of student news at Faculty, Department and School level through a variety of bulletins, newsletters, and news feeds. We also assist with bespoke activities within departments, such as Peer Support programmes, and community events, including coffee mornings and student Townhall meetings. Members of our team provide specialist support to each of the University of Exeter’s Faculties and we work across the Devon and Cornwall campuses, working in close partnership with the University of Exeter Students' Guild and the Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union.
