ENVI-Hub: a new website goes live

A new environment and sustainability website supported by the Environment and Sustainability Institute has gone live, with an online discussion on environmental monitoring taking place over the next two weeks to mark the exciting launch.

The first of its kind in the county, ENVI-Hub is an interactive website acting as a central platform for environment and sustainability in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. By fostering a community around its work, the ENVI-Hub aims to facilitate debate and encourage information-sharing between the public, environmental institutions and policymakers.

Centred around four broad elements: discussions, news, events and resources, ENVI-Hub provides a wealth of information about environment and sustainability in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Speaking about the website, Professor Kevin J Gaston, Director of the University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute said:

“The ENVI-Hub website is an innovative new platform concerned with environment and sustainability in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, with collaboration and information sharing at its core. By helping better link the community surrounding these topics in the county, ENVI-Hub will improve the quality of the debate around key issues of importance to us all, and enable the public and professionals to collaborate on efforts to resolve them. This encapsulates the ethos of the ESI, working with organisations and businesses to tackle the environmental challenges of today in our county.”

The inaugural discussion which has just begun focuses on the topic of environmental monitoring in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Researchers at the ESI invite interested parties to participate in the discussion surrounding the question: “What are the opportunities for, and barriers to, improved environmental monitoring in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly?”
