Event details
You are warmly invited to join us for our next research seminar on Thursday 3rd October at 12.30.
Dr Sue Greaney will provide an overview of the excavation and survey results from this year’s fieldschool at Columbjohn, Killerton, including the rediscovery of the ‘lost’ Elizabethan manor house, an intriguing prehistoric enclosure and some of the key finds which tell us about life there. Over 50 students, as well as NT volunteers, were involved in this project.
Prof. Alan Outram will update briefly on both the final fieldschool in Mitchell South Dakota (after 20 years) and his recent advanced fieldschool in Kazakhstan at the multi-period prehistoric site of Shiderty 3 which spans from the Pleistocene-Holocene transition until the Early Bronze Age. This excavation is related to his AHRC/DFG grant called "Pastoralists Lost" (with Alex Pryor and Cheryl Makarewicz).
