DESCRIPTION:Critical thinking&nbsp;isn&rsquo;t&nbsp;just about finding&nbsp;faults &ndash;&nbsp;it&rsquo;s&nbsp;about looking beyond&nbsp;what's&nbsp;there to consider other possibilities and relationships.&nbsp;&nbsp; In this practical and interactive workshop for postgraduate researchers (PGRs)&nbsp; you&rsquo;ll be invited to try a few short exercises in critical thinking. So, it&rsquo;s a good idea to come with a situation, topic or research project that you would like to reflect on critically. You&rsquo;ll also learn some ways to introduce criticality and authority into your writing style.&nbsp;&nbsp; Thinking and writing critically are key transferable skills that you can apply to build your career within academia and beyond.&nbsp; &ldquo;Critical&nbsp;reading&nbsp;is the capacity to evaluate what you read and relate it to other information.&rdquo;&nbsp;Wallace,&nbsp;M.&nbsp;and Wray, A. (2021).&nbsp;Critical Reading and Writing for Postgraduates.&nbsp; As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:- Use critical thinking techniques to evaluate the work of other scholars and your own.- Create persuasive arguments in a well-structured report, thesis or research paper.- Review your own writing to strengthen its power and precision. This course is open to PGRs from any discipline at any stage in their research journey. Please note that spaces for this interactive workshop are limited at the trainers request, so please ensure that if you sign up you are available to attend on the day and will be joining from an environment where you are comfortable and able to participate in the activities.
