DESCRIPTION:Title: EXCHANGEABILITY   Speaker: Professor Michael Goldstein (University of Durham)  Location: Harrison 170  Abstract:  Exchangeability is one of the core concepts that links classical and subjective approaches to statistics, giving a simple operational meaning to the parameters of statistical models and so to the inferential procedures that we should follow. We will give an overview of how and why exchangeability works, contrasting the standard probabilistic representation theorem with an alternative representation based on a natural geometric construction for uncertainty.768760
