A copy of the recording is available here: https://vimeo.com/1212323242/b9a047cb9e?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci   Abstract Teachers are increasingly expected to support a diverse range of learners, including students with SEND, yet many face challenges in identifying and implementing evidence-informed approaches within everyday classroom practice. In this talk, Jo will provide insights from rigorous research on how students with SEND can be effectively supported in the classroom. Drawing on findings from educational neuroscience, systematic reviews, and meta-analytic research, she will discuss the mechanisms that underpin successful learning and intervention approaches for pupils with learning difficulties. Using the MetaSENse project as a case example, she will illustrate how high-quality research evidence can be translated into practical and accessible tools that help educators make informed decisions about classroom support and targeted interventions. The session will focus on bridging the gap between research and practice, with the aim of supporting more inclusive, evidence-informed teaching for students with SEND.   Bio Jo Van Herwegen is a professor of Developmental Psychology and Education at UCL Institute of Education and director of the Child Development and Learning Difficulties lab. She is director for the Centre for Educational Neuroscience and co-director for the new Educational Neuroscience Policy Research Centre funded by the DfE. Her research focuses on improving educational outcomes, especially for those with learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions, using evidence from developmental psychology and educational neuroscience. She has evaluated targeted interventions for those with SEND, issues and best practice around the SEND code of practice, school transitions and inclusion for those with SEND, and CPD for educational staff. Jo has co-edited three books and has written over 90 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
