Creating Inspiring Spaces thanks to the Alumni Annual Fund

The Inspiring Spaces project, which was awarded over £4000 from the Alumni Annual Fund, aimed to transform the foyer of the University of Exeter Medical School Building into an inspiring space displaying art work and achievements of students who study there.

Students from different courses co-created a piece of art with James Lake, a disabled award winning community artist, with the intention of exhibiting it in the foyer of the Exeter Medical School building.  Students also collated images showing the art being made as well as photos, notices and posters depicting the achievements of students and their societies so that it could be displayed on underutilised TV screen in the foyer and on notice boards. The Inspiring Spaces project has transformed the foyer from a currently corporate impersonal space into an inspiring and welcoming environment.

Thanks to the Alumni Annual Fund, a vibrant space that celebrates the achievements of Exeter Medical School students, was able to be created giving a positive aspirational atmosphere. The space serves an educational purpose by highlighting the breadth of opportunities available to our undergraduate cohorts and inspires others to explore their own potential.
