Thomas Trevor (DLitt)
Wednesday 16 July 3:00pm
Thomas Trevor is a curator and writer on contemporary art. Until November 2013 he was Director of Arnolfini (2005–13), the centre for contemporary arts in Bristol, leaving after eight years to focus on developing curatorial projects internationally. He was also Associate Curator of the Art Fund International project (2007-12), working in partnership with Bristol Museum to build a collection of contemporary art from an international perspective, and founding Chair of the Visual Arts South West network (2010-13).
He is currently an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Exeter (2014-17), a member of the jury for the Korea Artist Prize 2014 and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Gwangju Biennale (Korea). He was previously Director of Spacex Gallery (1999-2005) in Exeter, and an independent curator (1994-99) based in London.
Over the past 20 years he has curated more than 100 exhibitions internationally, placing a particular emphasis upon experimental, interdisciplinary practice and context-led projects. His curatorial projects in 2014 include Black Sun at the Devi Art Foundation, Delhi, Joëlle Tuerlinckx: WOR(L)D(K) IN PROGRESS? at Arnolfini (in collaboration with Wiels, Brussels, and Haus der Kunst, Munich), and forthcoming exhibitions in China, Denmark and Korea.
