Accommodation

The Accommodation Office website contains lots of information about the types of accommodation available at Exeter, and about how to apply. This year, the University has made some changes to accommodation application procedures, so please do take the time to read the information below.

IMPORTANT: We have had some queries from agents about the setting up of on-line accounts on behalf of their applicants. If this it what you would like to do, then we advise that the student's personal email address is used during the log in process, as the system will only allow an email address to be registered once (so you will not therefore be able to use your own agency email address to register accounts for several different students). The email address to which all subsequent correspondence will be sent is shown at the bottom of the first page after an account has been set up, so do check and amend this if required. Accounts can be reactivated using the connection on the side of the page and both the login email and password can be changed once set up.

INTO programmes and pre-sessional language course

Applications for accommodation for the duration of a student's INTO programmes should be made directly to INTO (see the INTO website for more information). If your student is studying pre-sessional English they should make a separate application to the University for accommodation from October onwards (see below for details).

Undergraduate

  • Undergraduates must apply for accommodation before the 31st August in order to qualify for our accommodation guarantee. However, we strongly advise that international undergraduates apply before the end of July.
  • Students can apply for their accommodation once they have firmly accepted Exeter's offer (i.e. their UCAS status is CF or UF). They can apply for accommodation online. Students do not need to pay a deposit when they submit their application.
  • We will begin to consider a student's accommodation application once their UCAS status becomes unconditional firm (UF - i.e. they have firmly accepted Exeter's offer of an academic place and met the conditions of their offer).
  • If a student applies for accommodation using the online system (which we strongly advise they do as it is much faster than making a paper application) then all stages of the process will be conducted online. To view the status of their application, students should login to the website, where they can see if an offer of accommodation has been made.
  • All our contractual information will be sent via this website, and the student will need to confirm acceptance of the offer of accommodation by completing the on-line process. We will no longer be sending paper accommodation offers/contracts to students.
  • All stages of the on-line process are confirmed by email, so that the student has a record of the process. The accommodation agreement will be available to view at any time by the student logging on and clicking onto the OFFER INFORMATION section of the site.
  • By completing the on-line process the student will be agreeing to our contractual conditions and will then be expected to reside in University accommodation for the period defined in the contract. It is important that the student is aware of all the obligations they are agreeing to and for how long the contract will last. Once the contract is accepted by the student and confirmed by the University, the contract is legally binding and the student will have to honour the contract in full.

Postgraduate

  • International postgraduate students must apply for accommodation before 31st July in order to qualify for our accommodation guarantee.
  • Postgraduate students must have firmly accepted their offer of an academic place before they can apply for accommodation online.
  • We will begin considering postgraduate applications for accommodation from May onwards.
