Gretchen Daily

Gretchen Daily is Bing Professor of Environmental Science at Stanford University, where she also serves as Senior Fellow in the Stanford Woods Institute; Director of the Center for Conservation Biology; and co-founder and faculty director of the Natural Capital Project (www.naturalcapitalproject.org), an international partnership whose goal is to improve the well-being of people and the environment by mainstreaming the values of nature into high-leverage decisions globally. An ecologist by training, Daily’s research is on harmonizing biodiversity conservation, agriculture, and livelihoods; characterizing the connections between people and nature key to human health and well-being; and developing new policy and finance mechanisms for integrating conservation and human development. Daily is a fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.
