Natural Sciences

The Living Systems Institute is an important contributor to the University’s flagship undergraduate science programme, Natural Sciences. The programme recruits the very best students each year to study interdisciplinarily across the science disciplines and research institutes at the University. Our aim is to train the next generation of scientists who can readily collaborate across the disciplines – from physical sciences and mathematics to cell biology and chemistry – to solve future problems in fields such as medicine, new materials and climate.

Staff in the LSI play important roles as personal tutors and project supervisors, working alongside academics from different disciplines and institutes, and teach on a range of modules on the Natural Sciences programme. Developing the next generation of collaborative and interdisciplinary researcher is a fundamental part of the ethos of both Natural Sciences and the LSI.
