University of Exeter staff volunteer in the local Cornish community

BF adventure promotes the advancement of education amongst young people in Cornwall who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or have disabilities. The site comprises of some 60 acres of land including four large rain-filled quarries which provide an ideal environment for activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and survival skills.

With an emphasis on team building away from their desks, the ASU team grabbed an assortment of sharp tools and headed for an area where overgrown buddleia and brambles were covering the path and obscuring the amazing view over Falmouth Bay.

After four hours, the large area was cleared and despite a few scratches, the team emerged with the job done.

“It was a great opportunity for the team to work together outdoors in the sunshine and help an organisation that does so much good in the local community. Despite a few aching muscles the following day the team thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.” Jo Thacker, Admissions and Student Recruitment Manager said.

At the end of their time on site, they were offered the chance to experience the BF Adventure Zip Wire, an exciting and exhilarating end to a very rewarding day.
