St Luke’s Chaplaincy celebrates Joyfest with random acts of kindness
Churches across Exeter, including the Chapel of St Luke’s, are spreading summer cheer during Joyfest this week by carrying out random acts of kindness for members of the public, students and staff.
Beginning on Monday 4 June and culminating on ‘Back to Church Sunday’ 10 June, Joyfest is an initiative run by churches across Exeter to spread some joy – whether through a thoughtful deed, an encouraging word, or a random act of kindness.
Throughout the City this week, church members have been buying chocolates for traffic wardens, paying for people’s parking, bringing cakes into work, and many more random acts of kindness – all to spread some happiness on the streets of Exeter.
The University’s Christian members of staff have been focusing their efforts on campus, and have been carrying out acts including giving out free roses and bouncy balls, and offering free manicures to delighted students and staff.
Reverend Hannah Alderson, the St Luke’s Chaplain, said: “It was absolutely lovely to be out on the Quad in the sunshine, offering a little something for free. We hope it brightened a few people’s days and we look forward to spreading some more joy throughout the week!”
