Awards for Professional Services team

The University’s annual Professional Services Recognition Awards took place at a glittering gala dinner on Streatham Campus on Friday 22 June.  Two hundred colleagues from across our campuses were there on the night, and saw ten well-deserved winners pick up their prizes.

Now in their seventh year, the PSRAs recognise the outstanding contribution that Professional Services colleagues make to our University in bringing our values to life.  A full winners list can be seen online http://www.exeter.ac.uk/staff/benefits/excellence/winners2018/

Jos Sumner (pictured right) from the Graduate School of Education scooped the coveted Hero of the Year Award, as voted for by colleagues and students.  A record-breaking 870 votes were cast for five shortlisted colleagues, with Derek Lee, Estate Services, coming a close second.

Mike Shore-Nye, Registrar and Secretary, said: “It has been humbling to see so many of the fantastic nominations at this year’s PSRAs, which truly showcases the great work taking place in Professional Services across our campuses.  I’m thankful for the staff and students who took the time and effort to nominate their colleagues for the awards, and for the excellent work that has earned each Professional Services colleague their place on the shortlist.”

Kate Tyler, winner of the Community award, said “It is a privilege to receive the award, and I’m particularly grateful to those who took the time to nominate me.  Obviously it takes more than one to build a community.  I’ve been at the University for a while now, and the best times have been making collaborations and learning that when we share our expertise, listen to each other and work as friends as well as colleagues, not only do we achieve some great things, but we also have fun.”
