Lots of people think that Cornwall is just about tourism. But at our ‘Sustainable Cornwall We Want’ event, Tevi and the Institute of Cornish Studies want to showcase University of Exeter research and Cornish businesses and organisations that demonstrate that we are much, much more than this.
Joined by Daphne Skinnard from BBC Radio Cornwall, we will talk about how we are still at the forefront of global technological innovations, but this time with an emphasis on sustainable solutions; and to Cornish organisations providing social solutions to community problems.
But of course, our economies have been shaken badly by the global covid-19 pandemic. We will also look at what our research tells us about what we can take forward towards a more sustainable future.
Confirmed speakers include Joanie Willett and Garry Tregidga from the Institute of Cornish Studies, Dan Bloomfield of Tevi, responsible mining expert Professor Karen Hudson-Edwards, Lucy Crane of Cornish Lithium, Melissa Thorpe of Spaceport Cornwall, Jessie Hamshar and Peter Lefort of Cornwall Council and Emily Stevenson of Beach Guardian.
We are delighted to be working with Cornwall Council and the University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute to talk about ‘The Cornwall that We Want’, as we move to 2021 and beyond.
About the Hosts
The Institute of Cornish Studies brings together academic research in and about Cornwall. We want to understand better the histories that make up this place, what Cornwall is like right now, and what kind of futures we can move towards.
Tevi is an ERDF-funded programme supporting Cornish SMEs to grow whist contributing to Cornwall's environmental growth priorities and circular economy transition. Tevi currently supports over 350 enterprises through bespoke consultancy services, challenge networks and a grant scheme. Tevi is delivered by the University of Exeter in partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Cornwall Council and Cornwall Development Company.
