Abstract
I’ll be describing at some of our recently published epidemiological work which examined GP records in England going back 20 years -1998-2018 -to describe trends in autism diagnosis. I’ll discuss the findings, reasons for our findings, and their implications for autism but also use them to think about media, identities and diagnosis. In particular I will consider how time trends and diagnostic narratives have fed back into contemporary understandings of autism and gender.
