Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, Professor Lisa Roberts, cordially invites you to attend our Gulf Alumni Dinner.

Event details

This event offers an opportunity to network with alumni and friends of Exeter over a seated dinner at the magnificent setting of the Dr Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre in University City, Sharjah.

Prior to the dinner, one of the world’s leading conservation scientists, Professor Brendan Godley, will inform guests on the threats impacting marine life in the Arabian Gulf, and how the University of Exeter’s new partnership with the University of Khorfakkan will help ameliorate these challenges.

Event venue: Dr Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies, University City, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

How to book:   Please complete the online booking form.

Booking Note: This event is free of charge to attend. Dinner and drink refreshments will be provided, and you are welcome to bring a guest. If you do not wish to be photographed at the event, please inform a member of staff on arrival at the event registration desk.

Dress code: National dress / business

Directions to venue: Map location of the Dr Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre. Guests will be directed by police on arrival and there will be parking to the left and right side of the building.

COVID testing: It is at the request of the office of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, that all guests are required to present a negative PCR test result received within 24 hours of attending the event, and must bring with them evidence of a negative result (e.g. SMS of the result from the testing company). Displaying a result from a self-test kit is considered unacceptable. Anyone who fails to show evidence of a negative PCR test received within 24 hours of the event will be denied entry to the event.

For those travelling from Dubai airport, PCR tests are available at Prime Medical Center close to the airport (drive-through, a 6 minute drive from the airport, map location: https://goo.gl/maps/73GNJUQPJvju9nFp6 ), this is a more assured option to do the test, as most PCR companies used by hotels are unlikely to send results within 12 hours (and not all hotels have this service). After conducting a PCR test, you will receive a report via SMS within 8-12 hours, this is what should be presented to protocol officers at event venue. Please note, you should carry your original passport with you when attending a PCR test appointment.
