'Young People's Attitudes to Religious Diversity: perspectives from across the UK'
Abstract
The seminar will report on findings from a qualitative study of teenagers' attitudes to religious diversity that was carried out in 21 schools in varied locations across the United Kingdom from the outer Hebrides to the London metropolis, from rural Co. Tyrone to inner city Birmingham. The study highlights the influence of locality on young people's attitudes by exploring the interaction in their thinking of the homogenising trends of educational discourse and divergent community experiences of religion, secularity and diversity.
