Diamond Jubilee Finale Concert

The University of Exeter in partnership with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is proud to present its Diamond Jubilee Finale Concert. Join us for a glittering orchestral celebration with a dazzling performance by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Anthony Inglis, one of Britain’s most popular conductors.

Event details

A newly commissioned fanfare written for the University by renowned composer Stephen Montague will set the scene for an evening of jubilation, featuring popular and uplifting classics from some of the world’s best-loved composers. The changing tempos of these carefully selected pieces will evoke a mixture of emotions, from Rachmaninov’s romantic concerto to a triumphant end with Walton’s patriotic Spitfire Prelude and Fugue. Strauss’ explosive overture to Die Fledermaus, reminiscent of a volley of champagne corks, will pay tribute to the University’s celebration of achievement, and the festivities continue with Elgar’s stirring march composed for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria and Tchaikovsky’s glorious waltz.

With special lighting and a finale volley of confetti cannons, this concert is guaranteed to ensure that the University’s Diamond Jubilee year goes out with a bang. Join us for an evening of musical indulgence!

All profits from the concert will go to the Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Fund. To see the programme, find out more information and buy tickets, please see this page. Discount code for alumni - code ‘DJC2016’ will give 10% off at the time of booking.
