ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) Showcase Event

Event details

What is the event about?

The ESRC IAA team and the Impact and Engaged Research Network (IERN) would like to invite you to this showcase event focused on celebrating the success of impact projects supported through the ESRC IAA.  The event will feature case studies from ESRC IAA award holders as they share their own experience of holding such an award as well as the impact itself.

The ESRC IAA is a block grant of £727k in the form of an Impact Acceleration Account (IAA); the purpose of this is to accelerate the non-academic impact of existing social sciences research.  This replaces previous ESRC follow-on funding schemes, and has allowed the University to provide a more flexible and responsive approach to supporting impact from social sciences research through internally allocated funding streams. The University of Exeter is one of 24 institutions nationally to have been awarded an ESRC IAA.

The overall aims and objectives of the Exeter IAA are to:

  1. Create opportunities for University of Exeter social science researchers to maximise the social and economic benefit of their research through collaboration with non-academic partners (e.g. Business, industry, health-sector, community-based organisations, etc.)
  2. Promote the consideration of the potential for social and economic benefit of research as an important element within the design and creation of research programmes amongst the University of Exeter’s social science researchers.
  3. Facilitate the creation of networks and contacts between University of Exeter social scientists and research users and agencies outside of the academic sector.

The event will be followed by a networking tea/coffee and cake.

Who should attend?

All academics, researchers and professional services staff with an interest in hearing about the impact activities supported through the ESRC IAA are welcome to attend this event.

Unfortunately we are unable to video link this session to any of our other campuses, however we are planning on recording the presentations. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to receive a copy of the recording afterwards. In addition, we are also planning on running a similar showcase in Penryn in the new term.
