Sustainability Event - travel support and information stalls

One of our sustainability events on Streatham campus. The event will provide opportunities to find out about a range of projects, initiatives and support services linked to environmental sustainability at the University. It will aim to educate and empower you to make positive changes to your lifestyle that will also help our climate and environment. There will be services to support and encourage sustainable travel including: free 15-minute bike safety checks provided by Saddles and Paddles; free sign-ups to one-to-one two hour cycle confidence sessions; subsidised locks, lights and other cycle equipment; and access to a range of resources and information. Come along and chat to us to ask questions, share your ideas or to get involved.

This event will also showcase other local organisations and projects offering a range of sustainability opportunities for you to find out more about, including:

·         The Sustainability and Green Unit – they are responsible for overseeing and assisting with the development of the sustainability practices of the Students’ Guild. As well as being on hand to discuss their work and opportunities for new student projects; there will be representatives and information available on a number of their current projects including: VegShare, Give Up Your Paper Cup, Shared Bread Ale and Ethical Exeter.

·         University Grounds team – come and explore the team’s information plaques on the trees around the Forum highlighting the amazing benefits of the trees we have on campus.

·         GreenRide – an iOS and Android mobile app that was founded in 2016 to help make car sharing in Exeter part of more people’s lives.

·         Devon Wildlife Trust – a local charity that exists to protect all wildlife in Devon and to safeguard Devon’s unique natural environment.

·         Ride On – an Exeter based charity helping more people to cycle more often.

·         Exeter Community Garden – a long-term initiative established by members of the Students’ Guild, the University of Exeter and members of the community based on the on-campus community garden.

·         Co-bikes – a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Exeter providing the first on-street, city wide, public hire as you ride electric bike network in the UK.

·         NUS Student Switch Off – an energy-saving and recycling competition within halls of residence at the University.
