Professor Chernoff will be a Visiting Professor in the English department for an entire week. She will be giving a public reading from her work, as well as running workshops with students from English, Creative Writing and Modern Languages.
Author Maxine Chernoff is a professor and Chair of the Creative Writing program at San Francisco State University. With her husband, Paul Hoover, she edits the long-running literary journal "New American Writing". An internationally published poet and novelist, and award-winning translator, Maxine is the author of six books of fiction and ten books of poetry, most recently The Turning (2008) and Among the Names (2005), both from Apogee Press.
Entrance is free and there will be complimentary wine. The reading is open to all students and staff of the University of Exeter, as well as the general public.
