Heather Macklyne, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Portfolio Manager: Ground engineering, Structural engineering, Built environment, Infrastructure and urban systems, will be visiting the University on Tuesday 13 March.

Sessions

There will be two open sessions as follows:

Session 1 - 11.30 - 12.00:
EPSRC Engineering Theme Update
~20 minutes + Q&A
1.    Future Funding Opportunities
2.    Balancing Capability and the EPSRC Funding Portfolio
3.    Dispelling Myths
4.    Q&A

Session 2 - 12.00 - 13.00:
Grant-Writing Workshop
~20 minutes + Q&A/Open Session/Surgery
1.    How EPSRC and the peer review system works
2.    Tips on writing proposals; do's and don’ts; PI response
3.    Q&A | Open Session | Surgery

We propose the Surgery in Session 2 comprise five-minute slots, during which researchers at all career stages can discuss proposal and career development with Heather, Shay Sigafoos (Research Development Manager: General Engineering) and Gareth Buchanan (Research Development Manager: EPSRC/Physical Sciences & Technology cluster).

We request any researchers who would like to book one of these slots, declare interest by 9th February 2018 at the latest.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for the start of Session 2.

Who should attend?

All academics, researchers and Professional Services staff at the University of Exeter with an interest in the EPSRC Engineering theme are welcome to attend
