EPSRC Postgraduate Researcher to Innovator Entrepreneurial Training


University of Exeter EPSRC-funded Postgraduate Students have an exciting opportunity to attend this free entrepreneurship training programme.

Day 1: Wednesday 3 April 2019, 8:30-20:30

Day 2: Tuesday 21 May 2019, 10:30-15:30

Location: The Deck, The Innovation Centre,University of Exeter, Rennes Drive, Exeter EX4 4RN

Overview

The EPSRC Postgraduate Entrepreneur Programme aims to equip participants with the tools, techniques and approaches to support and enable entrepreneurial behaviour. T

hey will learn to communicate and network with non-academics and have the self-confidence and ability to see industrial opportunities.

Attending this programme will raise awareness of the markets in which the participants skills can be applied, and support them to demonstrate the competencies required if they wish work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist in future.

Topics covered include:

  • How to open a conversation
  • How to think like an entrepreneur
  • Using Conceptual Models to explore career opportunities
  • Communication, listening and networking skills
  • What IP has been generated and how should you protect it?

Event information

This programme is comprised of two sessions. Firstly, a fast paced day-long introduction to the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for a successful career creating meaningful impact as an innovative researcher.

Following this, the second session will consolidate the learning and help participants to maintain momentum, share the learning and plan for the future.

The introductory event and the subsequent activities participants will engage with will allow participants to identify how they can cope and then thrive in entrepreneurial situations, particularly those involving uncertainty, ambiguity and confusion.

Attending this programme will support attendees to demonstrate capabilities required to work towards becoming chartered by the Institute of Engineering and Institute of Physics.

Refreshments, lunch and dinner* will be provided.

*Dinner will be provided at the first event on 3 April only
