2019 South West Alumnae Event: "A Tour of Special Collections" - FULLY BOOKED

The University of Exeter holds the most important collection of archives relating to South West writers, as well as significant historical, regional, religious and scientific papers.

Your guides on a whistlestop tour through these archives will be Prof. Tim Kendall, Academic Director of Special Collections, and Dr. Christine Faunch, Head of Heritage Collections.

During the evening, you will have behind-the-scenes access to manuscripts by William Golding, Daphne du Maurier and Ted Hughes, as well as treasures from the Syon Abbey library. We will pay particular attention to Golding’s Lord of the Flies, charting the genesis and development of this iconic novel through successive drafts.

Please meet at the Old Library, Reception Desk on the ground floor.
