Workshop by Homoud Alzamil: Bi-directional pragmatic transfer in bilingual speech act performance
It has been long assumed that dictionary meaning and grammar rules will be enough to communicate in a second language. With time, learners realise that they misunderstand the contextual and pragmatic factors loaded in certain utterances. So, trying to understand this misunderstanding (or pragmatic failure), comes this manoeuvre to investigate the mono-directional and bi-directional pragmatic transfer (L1 to L2, and L2 to L1) using the theory of speech acts.
