Exeter’s student satisfaction ranked best in Russell Group

Student satisfaction at the University of Exeter is the best of any Russell Group university, according to the latest influential report.

Exeter ranked 1st out of the 24 leading UK research-led institutions for Overall Satisfaction, in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2022, published on Wednesday, July 6th. The University achieved a score of 82.7 per cent for this question – an increase of 6 per cent over the previous year.

The University also saw a significant increase in its weighted mean score for all the questions in the NSS, which rose to 75.4 per cent – a five-year high. This score was calculated using the same methodology as the Times Good University Guide.

Exeter also achieved significant improvements in its results in the Assessment and Feedback category, rising by 4.6 per cent, its Learning Community (up by 7.2%) and Learning Resources (up by 10.7%).

More than 3500 final year students completed the National Student Survey, with Exeter achieving considerable improvements to almost all of the 27 questions posed through the survey.

Professor Tim Quine, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the University of Exeter, said: “This year's strong NSS results are testament to the commitment of our excellent academic and professional services colleagues to supporting our students throughout the last 3 challenging years. I would like to thank and congratulate them for their hard work and dedication and for their commitment to the success of our students."

The National Student Survey was launched in 2005 and is open to all final year degree students at institutions in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

This year, it was completed by more than 324,000 final-year students in the UK.
