Diverse communities enrich the University's learning and teaching environments.

Equality and Diversity

At the University of Exeter we believe that the diversity of our community is an essential part of our values and enriches employment, research, studying and learning experiences. The University has a policy of equal opportunity and aims to provide a working and learning environment free from discrimination. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect whether at work or study. Staff and students have an important role to play in creating an environment where harassment and discrimination is unacceptable.

The University has a Network of Dignity and Respect Advisors which students and staff experiencing harassment or bullying can contact for confidential and informal support. For more information about the Network of Dignity and Respect Advisors and for contact details of the Advisors see the Equality & Diversity website (link to www.exeter.ac.uk/equality/dignity).

The University also has a procedure for reporting incidents of discrimination. Discrimination is treating someone less favourably because of their:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion/belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

Incidents of discrimination can be reported via our Reporting Incidents of Discrimination online form (link to www.exeter.ac.uk/reportingdiscrimination/).
