2020/21 Global Excellence Scholarships (East Asia)

About the award

The University of Exeter is at the forefront of global collaboration. This scholarship has been created to provided the opportunity for more students from this region to develop their academic talents and contribute to our thriving campus community of students and staff from over 170 countries.

Global Excellence Scholarships recognise high academic achievement and are some of the highest valued awards offered by the University.  The scholarship is awarded as a £5,000 reduction in 2020/21 tuition fees; it cannot be paid as cash or attributed to other charges such as accommodation fees. This award is not recurrent for subsequent years of study.   

Scholarships will be offered on a rolling basis until 31 August 2020 OR all allocated funds have been distributed, whichever may be earlier. As there are a limited number of scholarships available we encourage early submission of your Masters course application and the prompt completion of your scholarship application on receipt of an offer.


Entry requirements

You can apply for this scholarship if you:

  • hold one of the following nationalities: Hong Kong, Japanese, Mongolian, North Korean, South Korean,Taiwanese AND
  • are classified as an international student for fees purposes AND
  • already hold an offer to start an eligible full-time Masters degree (see below)* at the University of Exeter, commencing in September/October 2020 or January 2021. Scholarship recipients are selected on academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your programme application. Awardees will be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of a UK upper second class degree. See our country pages for further guidance

*Eligible programmes are all full time campus based taught MA or MSc degrees with the exception of the following courses: MBA, MSc Accounting and Taxation, MSc International Business, MSc Marketing, MSc Money, Banking and Finance, MSc Human Resource Management, MSc International Human Resource Management, MSc International Tourism, MSc Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management, MSc Finance and Investment, MSc Finance and Management, MSc Finance and Marketing, MA International Film Business, MA Creativity:Innovation and Business Strategy, MA Applied Security Strategy, MPA / MPA with Applied Studies, MA Education Online, MSc Island Biodiversity and Conservation, MSc Extreme Medicine. Successful candidates will be notified by email by 21 July 2020 for scholarship applications up to 30 June 2020 and by 31 August 2020 at the latest for applications up to 24 August 2020.
