MA Cultures and Environments of Health Bursaries 2021/2

About the award

The University of Exeter, in partnership with the Wellcome Trust, are delighted to offer three bursaries, worth £25,200, to students enrolling on our new MA Cultures and Environments of Health programme in 2021/22.

These awards are available to aspiring practitioners and/or researchers applying to study the full time postgraduate taught programme: MA Cultures and Environments of Health in 2021/22.

Bursary recipients will be selected on:

  • Academic merit or relevant professional experience, based on the information supplied in your application.
  • The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic and professional ambition; and a genuine need for the scholarship to support these ambitions.

This bursary will be awarded as a one year tuition fees deduction of £9,2001 plus a living stipend for one year of £16,000; it cannot be paid as cash. The tuition fees element will be automatically deducted from your first year tuition fees upon enrolment. If you choose to pay your tuition fees in instalments, the award will be deducted from the total annual tuition fee and the remaining balance split accordingly.  The stipend will be paid in monthly instalments directly to the student’s UK bank account.
This award is for one year only and is not recurrent for subsequent years of study.

Applicants whose ability to undertake the programme will be dependent on the outcome of a successful bursary award can request a deposit deadline extension to the scholarship notification date. To do this, please contact

1 In the event that this bursary is awarded to a student with International fee status and from a low or middle income country then the Wellcome Trust will extend the tuition fee deduction to cover the full International tuition fees for the MA Cultures and Environments of Health programme in 2021/22. A list of the countries that the Wellcome Trust considers to be low and middle income is available here
