Programme structure 2018/19
Taught in short, intensive blocks at world-leading companies, this innovative programme can be studied across either 2 or 3 years allowing learning flexibility around work or other commitments. Studying alongside other professionals, this is also an excellent opportunity to widen networks and build connections with peers across multiple industries.
Residential courses 2017/18
Taught elements of this programme are delivered through week-long residential courses. The dates for 2017/18 residential courses are:

Learning and teaching
The programme is taught by blended learning; online learning resources combined with teaching residentials, company visits and practical assignments. You are provided with comprehensive course materials and supported by university staff through a range of online activities. Face-to-face tutorials and feedbacks sessions take place during residential courses, which take place termly.
All modules are assessed by diverse assignments aligned with industry needs and expectations such as management style reports, project group activities and including group and individual presentations. Some assessments will be undertaken at residentials including more formal assessment types. As a student you will have access to learning support staff who are available to help, assist and guide you through the programme.
The course has been designed to meet the needs of companies and individuals wishing to take advantage of the explosion in big data. The teaching approach, technical content and assessments reflect the role of the data professional across many industries. All course content is taught in context, allowing students to enhance their professional experience while studying.

Entry requirements 2018/19
A good honours degree in a numerate subject from a recognised university.
Students are expected to enter this programme with some programming ability (e.g. Python, IDL, Fortran, Matlab, C++, C, Java). Candidates may be interviewed by video conference to assess their programming ability and suitability for the course.

English language requirements
Overall score 6.5. No less than 6.0 in any section.
Overall score 90 with minimum scores of 21 for writing, 21 for listening, 22 for reading and 23 for speaking.
Pearson Test of English (Academic)
58 with no less than 55 in all communicative skills.
Cambridge English: Advanced & Proficiency
Overall score 176. No less than 169 in any section.
Applicants with lower English language test scores may be able to take pre-sessional English at INTO University of Exeter prior to commencing their programme. See our English language requirements page for more information.
Fees and funding 2018/19
Tuition fees per year 2018/19
- UK/EU: £23,000
- International: £23,000
Fees can normally be paid by two termly instalments and may be paid online. You will also be required to pay a tuition fee deposit to secure your offer of a place, unless you qualify for exemption. For further information about paying fees see our Student Fees pages.
UK government postgraduate loan scheme

Finance for sponsored students
Organisations paying their employee’s fees will be issued a termly invoice by our finance team at the beginning of each term, payable within 30 days. For the two year programme starting in September 2018, this will be £4,400 per term. For the three year programme starting in September 2018, this will be £2,934 per term. We reserve the right to amend these fees, and will notify the employee organisation in good time.
Students who are not sponsored by an employer will normally pay by two termly instalments and may pay online.
