MSc Paediatric Exercise and Health, St Luke’s Campus
“My favourite modules are Paediatric Exercise Physiology and Paediatric Exercise and Health. I learnt about the growth and development characteristics of children and adolescents and their adaptation in sports. The course analyses the common chronic diseases in children and adolescents and discusses the value and intervention of sports. Specific case studies combine professional knowledge and practical application to better understand these conditions.
My dissertation is called “Duration of training in relation to bone health in male adolescent athletes’. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the duration of training and Bone Mass Density in different type of sports, and compares bone outcomes of each sport according to hours of training. My supervisor discussed the structure of the article with me, and how to apply the research methods and statistics analysis methods. He especially guided me on how to analyse the resulting data, and finally how to discuss the data.
The equipment in the laboratory is very advanced and comprehensive. There is a lot of support for students to study independently and do research. The teachers support the students to study in the laboratory themselves, and they also provide a lot of help to the students.
The city of Exeter is a really green space and offers students a good learning and living environment. The research at the university is very comprehensive and I have come into contact with many different educational methods and thinking modes, which will continue to be of great help to me in the future. After I graduate I am going to apply for a PhD and continue to further my studies.”
