Overview:
I am an Independent Research Fellow, supported by a UKRI E3 Independent Research Fellowship. My research focuses on developing a ‘precision’ approach to treatment in type 2 diabetes (T2D). Funded by the MRC and British Heart Foundation, my research shows for the first time that simple clinical features of people with T2D alter response to glucose-lowering treatments. I am currently developing the first decision support tool that will assist in choosing the most appropriate type of glucose-lowering therapy for an individual patient with T2D. I am also leading Diabetes UK funded research to understand the association between diabetes and severity of COVID-19.
